18 People are dying in flooding, Prime Minister Shahbaz calls for a "Sustainable Solution" to Tackle Climate Change.



Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urged for a "stable solution" to address the issues caused by climate change, which is believed to be the major cause of Pakistan's incredibly heavy rains and floods this monsoon season. On Wednesday, Pakistan reported 18 flood-related casualties.

Despite the floods' enormous size, authorities have had challenges responding to them. According to government, 33 million people, approximately 15% of the population, have been affected.

  • According to National Disaster Management Authority's regular monitoring report, 18 more people have died in the catastrophic flood during the previous day, bringing the total number of casualties since June 14 to 1,343. or more
  • According to a separate report from the (NFRCC) 17 persons have been affected over the past 24 hours as a result of severe flooding, bringing the total number of injuries reported thus far to 12,720.

According to the statement, rain or thunder storms were predicted for today in some areas of KPK, AJK, Gilgit-Baltistan, as well as surrounding hills, while the weather was predicted to remain hot and muggy in other parts of the nation.

Ahsan Iqbal, the deputy chairperson of the NFRCC, and Major General Zafar Iqbal, the forum's organizer, presided over a meeting of the forum this morning to discuss the flood situation.

Statement released following the conference, the flood situation in both Sindh and Balochistan, two of the worst-affected provinces, and reconstruction efforts were the main topics of discussion.

The affected areas would be digitally mapped in order to control the rehabilitation of the population and internal node, it was announced at the conference.

The Benazir Income Support Program's decision to raise the total compensation amount to flood-affected families from Rs28 billion to Rs70 billion was also approved yesterday by the federal cabinet.

Furthermore, significant migration and a lack of resources in some areas have raised questions about a looming health crisis.

In the wake of the floods, the World Health Organization (WHO) issued yet another warning about a deteriorating humanitarian catastrophe in Pakistan. Tarik Jasarevic, the WHO's spokeswoman, expressed concern over a spike in the number of new cases of various diseases.
